My Mom cared so much about how she looked before she was sick. She had beautiful long dark hair and before going out she would spend hours fixing her hair and getting ready. She was a young woman when she died - she was only 57 years old. During the last weeks she was in the hospital, she was in the ICU. She would get a regular hospital sponge bath but my Mom wanted a real bath and to have her hair washed. I understand she had all the electrodes on and that made it difficult but one nurse, Grace Patalinghug, was so in tuned to what was important to her and how to make a difference. She called and told us to bring in my Mom's special soaps, lotions, shampoo and cream rinse. She gave my Mom the last real bath that she would ever have in her life. She was so kind and gentle. I can't thank her enough for how she made her feel. It was very special - Grace created that for her. Grace is an extraordinary Nurse.
