I was admitted with pneumonia and plueral effusion. I was in a lot of pain and my breathing was shallow and unsteady. The doctors couldn't drain the fluid so I had surgery to remove the peel. When I was brought back to my room, Gina was VERY attentive. Growing up I had a few friends, and their mothers were very hospitable and never let me leave hungry. The feeling I had as one of her patients was just like when I was a kid. I felt warmth and love poured over me.

Anyway this pneumonia etc, came out of nowhere. Otherwise I'm a pretty healthy 25 year old. After Surgery, I was weak and sore. I've never needed assistance using the bathroom, but I was unable. Gina never made me feel embarrassed for needing a bed pan that night or a bedside commode in the days following. My whole right torso was pained and I couldn't bend over to wipe after urinating. I was NEVER made to feel embarrassed or ashamed. I hardly had to ask, she just helped. I felt unconditionally care for. And my meds - never have I seen someone so meticulous and purposeful! I had a medication that is to be taken twice a day. Normally, it's breakfast and dinner time, however my doctor suggested breakfast and lunch so it wouldn't keep me up at night. When I explained this to Gina she was sure to note it, and all of the nurses from then knew it was for lunch. I guess as an able bodied young person, asking for help that I needed, was hard. Gina never made me ask, she just helped. Having her on my team made my 8 day stay so much better.
