Every nurse has a story. This nurse has a quiet one. She works quietly behind the scenes to ensure that her patients receive excellent care. She quietly acts as a preceptor for the graduate nurses and those in training from Western Governor’s University. Her quiet demeanor has been an asset to the patients and staff on the Surgical/Pediatric unit. She has been nominated by her peers to sit on the newly formed Staffing Committee and always brings good ideas and information from her peers.

Her Patient wrote: "Once I arrived in the room, Gina was very attentive, very gracious, explained the room features, and gave me information on the board. She constantly dropped in to check on me and asked many times if there was anything she could do to make me comfortable. She seemed very concerned for my well being and when I asked questions she did not hesitate to get the answer as quickly as possible, even if it meant that the doctor did not like her to call. This lady has impressed me from any of the others and Lake Pointe should be proud."

Another patient wrote: "Gina, no matter how much she had to do she always has a good attitude and something upbeat or funny to say that always brightened the room and my day. She is a compassionate caregiver for all of her patients and every time I see her training a new nurse to the floor she exhibited patience, kindness and encouragement. This is what makes a great nurse and your hospital is lucky to have her!"

Gina often puts her unit before her personal needs, works extra and even changes her shifts to ensure that the unit is providing the nursing care required. She also willingly floats to other areas to ensure that they are adequately staffed. She servers as a role model to her peers and raises the expectation and standard of care every day.
