My mother was in CCU with CHF, liver enzymes at 1700 and fluid in and around her lungs, heart, liver and in her abdomen. When her kidney creatinine level went up to 2.3 and she stopped producing urine. Emilie Ferguson was brave enough to let me know she was uncomfortable with the Cardiologist's lack of action. She talked with me and we had a new team of cardiologists on the case in less than an hour.
Emilie cared for my mother for the majority of her stay in CCU and was always respectful, caring and informative. She sincerely cared about my mother and us. I firmly believe that if Emilie hadn't had the courage to speak out, my mother wouldn't have survived. Before this new team, we had not been informed of the severity of her condition, nor were we told of out of sync rhythms in her heart, or the liver condition. We learned more about mom's condition in an hour than we knew all year. This was her 5th admission this year.
I believe Emilie saved her life and deserves recognition for her courage and sincerity in caring for our mom.
