I have previously nominated this person, but I feel compelled to again put her name forth for this award and recognition, as she is so outstanding and so exemplifies the criteria listed for this award. I could specifically list each bullet point and cite multiple examples demonstrating her actions and attitudes fulfilling the criterion in an exemplary manner, but suffice it to say that when patients and families she cares for see her, they light up with the same sunshine Eileen radiates; her caring and compassion are almost tangible, she models outstanding interpersonal skills, and she is always positive. She works wonderfully with her co-workers and members of other Departments whether they are physician, nurse, pharmacologist or technician, and she stays problem focused when there are challenges. She is outspoken, but not argumentative. Her energy level is always high, and she is self-starting and self-disciplined for not only whatever needs to be done, but goes beyond, always eager to learn and to teach. She has become the lead Nurse for our service, and was the primary resource for the recent FACT inspection of the Bone Marrow Transplant Collection Service which we completed successfully. She feels compelled to share the experiences of our service with her colleagues nationally, and is has presented at the national meeting of the American Society for Apheresis at the last meeting in the Spring of this year. She is indeed one of those rare people that make us feel how lucky we are that she is a nurse in our hospital taking care of our patients and working with our staff.
