Diana's previous office manager used to say that if you wanted to see the compassionate side of nursing, look to Diana. She recalled how Diana worked with a patient at the Mt. Morris clinic earlier this year to help her with breastfeeding. Diana has attended the Breast Feeding Conference this year and continues to be involved with the breastfeeding initiative at the hospital, where she also works part-time in Labor and Delivery as part of the OB Department.
"She is a passionate breastfeeding advocate," said Sandy Dennis, Senior Director of Nursing. "She teaches childbirth education classes and works within KSB and throughout the community to promote the baby friendly initiative."
However, Diana's nursing work covers the full continuum of patients, as Dr. Robert Bandera of the Oregon Clinic noted. Dr. Bandera has worked with Diana for the last 12 years.
"We have a lot of older patients and navigating all of the Medicare issues, all of the insurance issues, the prior authorization issues, the patient assistance forms can be difficult for people who are not tech savvy," he said.
"Diana is out there doing things for these people. It's the other things that you don't see that she does such a great job with in an unassuming role. It comes naturally to her."
