Nomination 1:

I do not want to single out just a single situation that Denise has provided exceptional care because she does this on a DAILY basis. I admire her work ethic in and outside our department. There is so much that goes on with Denise's job that most people do not even realize. She is our only FT nurse in our department with occasional outside help. Her patient care starts with an initial phone call to a patient to getting a history on them, outside films, and any questions that the patient may have. She instantly develops a rapport with them before they ever arrive at the hospital. As the sole providing nurse for our department she helps with printing of forms, setting up sterile trays, pulling any needed drugs, as well as preparing the room this all before the patient even arrives. She may have just finished a CT biopsy and is then pulled to X-Ray to do a Myelogram, all of which she does with a smile on her face! She is extraordinary with our little people that come in and need to be sedated and an IV started, or a catheter placed. She always provides an environment in which her patients feel safe and at ease with her. Denise gives a whole new meaning to the word "mulit-tasker". There are days she is eating lunch on the run as she bounces from department to department all while maintaining her great attitude. I can't even count the days she stays late to make care calls to her patients or to prepare for the next days schedule. Aside from her patient duties, she helps me with teaching my students about infection control, vital signs, and even being a volunteer for the venipucnture class. She even provides the students with pop and cookies to make all these processes a little more fun for them. I have worked with Denise for many years now and I believe she is more than deserving of this award! Not only is she an extraordinary nurse, but she is also an amazing person who is always putting others needs first. Her compassionate patient care and her exceptional team player attitude definitely makes her stand out as an awesome nurse.

Nomination 2:

I just wanted to convey to you the outstanding experience I encountered with Denise Pfeifer, RN, during my biopsy procedure recently. She is the most caring, compassionate and professional nurse that I have ever met here and abroad. Denise explained the procedure prior to and during the biopsy. She inquired about my comfort during the process. And in a complete surprise to me, she followed up on my status the next day. I've never encountered that in the past.
