Debra came to our unit two years ago, and helped make it what it is today. Sheworkedto increase our staffing, and to be sure that the nurses on the unit were the best fit for us.When the staff working with your patients feel supported, it makes a huge impact. After a short time, our satisfaction scores rose! New and updated equipment and supplies began to arrive, from fetal heart rate monitors to a new refrigerator in the staff lounge.
The staff were pleased with her emphasis on education. She not only made it a priority but provided the opportunities for the staff to gain clinical expertise and earn CEU's. As staff satisfaction rose so did patient satisfaction scores. Her innovation of cultural competency presentations at staff meetings got the whole hospital excited!
Though she has been an amazing manager, she also demonstrates she is a great nurse, taking time on a daily basis to check in with patients and listen to their concerns or compliments. She is compassionate, caring, and she continues to advocate for patients and staff alike. Having a great leader to inspire and empower has allowed us to be great bedside nurses!
