We had a patient come to the clinic who was unkempt and had soiled himself. Kyleene and Dana took the time to collect supplies and proceeded to help clean the patient, and did so in a way to preserve his dignity. They were very gracious, kind, and patient with him, never approaching him in a way that could potentially embarrass him. Safe to say, he had the appearance of a different man when leaving our clinic with clean clothes and absent a bad odor. Kyleene and Dana should be credited for their demeanor and behavior with him. They worked to preserve him physically, emotionally, and cognitively. They helped the whole person. We talk a lot about one of the strengths of nursing being our holistic approach to patients and they exemplified this.
