As a nurse, we never wake up and come into work thinking we are going to impact a patient’s life, but on Friday 12-9, Cynthia made an impact on pt, CG’s life and care here at IU Health North. Dr. Bl called me on the charge phone Friday morning. We scheduled CG, a past breast cancer survivor, for a bronchoscopy with biopsies for a lung mass. She was in Dr. B’s office and I scheduled for the same day. When Cynthia went out to the waiting room, to bring CG back, she arrived with the patient and five family members. The patient was tearful and her supportive family was at her side. Cynthia made the patient and her family very comfortable in a large A/R room. It was apparent that patient and family needed to be together for support. Cynthia got the patient ready. Cynthia worked around the family and kept them close to the patient. She not only assessed the patient, but took care of CG in the procedure room and post op as well. While the patient was recovering, Cynthia made sure the family was still near the patient, and that the patient was able to rest after the procedure. Cynthia impacted this patient not only with her clinical skills, but the best compassionate care she could give. Cynthia gave exceptional care that day!
