Clarice Jones, RN, was the recipient of the first DAISY Award at Methodist LeBonhuer Healthcare Hospital South. Clarice was nominated by Eloise Woods, ED Clinical Outcomes Coordinator. Clarice has been a Registered Nurse for six years. Five of those six years have been dedicated to serving patients in the Methodist South Emergency Departmet. She demonstrates outstanding nursing skills and has a great compassion for people. Her quite, professional demeanor has often times endeared patients and their families. One example of the compassion that she shows was mentioned in her nomination letter. There was an occasion when Clarice had the opportunity to care for a patient in the Emergency Department who had breast cancer. She of course went about her business of showing compassion and caring for the patient. Her contact with the patient's family at that time was limited. Many months later the daughter of the breast cancer patient returned to the ED seeking care for her own child. However, while there the lady asked to meet Clarice Jones. She stated that her mother had been a patient in the ED. She also stated that her mother returned home after her hospital stay praising the care and compassion that she received from Clarice. The breast cancer patient did expire shortly after her hospital stay. The daughter said that she just wanted to let Clarice know how much her caring spirit and dedication to serving people entrusted in her care had touched her mother and her entire family. Again, this is just one example of the dedication and compassion that Clarice demonstates on a daily basis. That same dedication and commitment is evident when she cares for patients, mentors to new nurses and works as a team member of the Methodist South Emergency Department.
