Several weeks ago, my father was a direct admit to the CCU for a suspected perforated ulcer. Me and my family were scared and anxious as we waited for doctor after doctor to see my father to come up with a diagnosis. My father was in a lot of pain and apprehensive about the whole situation.
Christina was a breath of fresh air. She had such a great personality, easily developing a relationship with me and my mom, which quickly reassured us that she would make sure he was taken care of. She made sure he was comfortable always, and explained everything she did to both my mom and to my dad. Not only did she have a sweet disposition but she exuded a level of confidence that made us all feel at ease. She was in control at all times. She took the time to get to know us, even sharing personal information about her own family with us.
After spending several days in the ICU, we felt like we really got to know her. As a matter of fact, after my father had surgery and was ready to be transferred to the floor, he didn't want to leave the ICU because of Christina!
She truly is the example of what an extraordinary nurse is. She understands what it means to show compassion and empathy. Her love for caring for patients is evident in everything she does. She exemplifies the meaning of patient/family centered care.
