I have worked with Cherie for 7 years. She is the kindest nurse I have ever known. She loves all her patients and the staff and she always treats everyone like family.

Several examples of her care and compassion include…

A patient was discharged to The Laurels Nursing Home recently and the EMS drivers stated that they could not take his balloons with him - it was his birthday. Cherie went after work to the Laurels and took the balloons to him.

A little over a year ago we had a patient that was homeless and living in a tent on the street. He was older and Cherie was so worried about him not having anything to keep him warm. While he was here as a patient, she went to Wal-Mart and bought him a back pack, thick sweat shirts, sweat pants, T-shirts, socks and many other things I can't remember. She would go in his room every day to make sure he had his t-shirt on underneath his gown and would pick up his dirty clothes and wash them. All these things she did without wanting recognition. We wouldn’t have known had the patient not told us.

Recently, a patient on the unit had special needs. The patient had a baby doll that looked very worn. Cherie bought her a new baby doll.

I could go on and on with stories of Cherie’s compassion. I think that she is a special nurse and a beautiful person and should be considered for the DAISY award. I promise you, if you ever have a family member admitted or if you are a patient here - you would want Cherie to be your nurse.
