Carrie Parker is such a team player and is always willing to help out whenever she is needed. I think God has a plan for all of us and whatever path we decide to take, it will eventually lead us to where He has planned for us to be. This being said, I feel as though God placed Carrie Parker here, at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, to make a difference in the lives of those who have lost a loved one. The care that she provides for her patients goes beyond what any nursing book can teach you.

On her own time, she attends the funerals of the babies whose mothers she has cared for. Carrie is such a go-getter and when she gets something on her mind, she follows through on it. I guess it was about a year ago when she decided to start a huge, selfless, and amazing project. Her vision was to have a place for our patients, who have lost a child, to have a quiet place to grieve. She called it, The Bereavement Room. Of course, it was a challenge to get this going, but she never gave up. She would take off her scrubs, and put on a suit and go to these meetings with such professionalism and drive, that someone eventually shared the same passion for this project as she did.

It is amazing to me that Carrie transformed what used to be a stockroom, into a quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and almost Heaven-Like place. These grieving parents will now have a place to spend, the short time they do have, with their child. As a nursing student, Carrie is a constant reminder of the nurse that I hope to someday be. She has made a difference in so many lives, and many more lives to come!
