It was the 10th day of a 3 week long ICU stay for my mother. Many nurses had met and cared for her over the past emotional and stressful days. Caitie was the 1st nurse to convey that she really cared. She connected to her both medically and personally, sympathized with my family and maintained her professional and knowledgeable demeanor. She immediately introduced herself the first morning I arrived after my mother had a rough night. I was going through emotional turmoil. Caitie went above the call of duty, giving me as much information as possible regarding previous, present, and upcoming care. I felt much less in the dark after talking to her. Caitie was my mother's nurse for only 2 days, but even during the week that followed, she continued to check both of us. Caitie's empathy and compassion throughout our weeks in the ICU and transitioned all of our family from confused to comforted.
