On May 1 C had her water break at 2 a.m. C and Z came in at 2:30 a.m. Kim was the first nurse we had and she was nice, caring, and professional. When it came time for shift change, Kim introduced us to our new nurse, Brenda Vigil. Brenda informed us that she typically worked at night and that this was her first day shift in a good amount of time. Even though it was her first day shift in a while she did not let it bother her. Z is a combat medic and had worked with a variety of different types of nurses. The majority of the nurses that he worked with made him question the schooling nurses receive. However, Brenda went above and beyond. She worked around C and Z even encouraging us and helping C with getting comfortable. A student nurse was with her, named Nicole. Brenda was excellent at showing her the job and did not neglect us at all. Brenda was knowledgeable, caring, professional, and she treated C like a daughter. If we had any questions or concerns she addressed them right away.

Brenda had confidence, and anyone could tell that she loved/enjoyed her job. Brenda never pushed anything on us. She recommended medications and gave excellent reasons as to why C should take the medications. Even though C's labor took over 17 hours, Brenda checked on her and listened to anything that C said. When the doctor said it was okay to push, she was very supportive and encouraging. She never lost her professionalism even when C was pushing and pushed out some poop. Brenda didn't bat an eye about it and kept saying that was normal and was a good sign. Even when her shift was over, she changed and came to check on us afterwards. When she came back she got to meet A moments after he was born. She congratulated C and told her that she did an amazing job. Even the next day, Brenda checked up on C and A. Brenda helped to solidify the idea for Z going back to school to become an RN. Nicole even checked up on A and C and couldn't have a better nurse than Brenda to shadow.
