Betty will tell you she was a "wall flower" as a child. I would like to share with you why I think she is an extraordinary "DAISY" of CRMC. Betty has been a dedicated and valued asset to CRMC for many years in ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and currently as a Vascular Access Specialist. She holds several certifications in specialty areas and constantly seeks more educational opportunities above and beyond requirements of her job (ACLS, CRNI, VA-BC, to name a few). She not only has a thirst for expanding her own personal knowledge but also fosters the learning of fellow teammates, staff, patients, families, and yes, even doctors. She will not stop at identifying a knowledge deficit within the hospital, but will develop the necessary education and then follow through to provide that education to staff and then assure them that she is always there as a resource.

Providing support to everyone around her is another aspect that resonate the value of a DAISY nurse. Betty will not only and willingly extend help to patients, families and each and every CRMC employee, but also anticipate their needs and take action. She has a tireless attention to detail in her documentation, assessments and role as a team member.

To name just a few of her accomplishments in the past year, Betty has: written a grant and received equipment that will enhance our ability to obtain venous access for our patients, belongs and participates in committees, engineered education for the Safety Fair and also volunteers her expertise to friends, neighbors and Frontier Days.

If you google the term "Role Model", I have no doubt that you would find a picture of Betty Middelstadt. She has not only set the highest of standards for herself but expects the same of those around her. You cannot help but want to be just like her. She makes everyone aspire to be an improved and more compassionate nurse.
