Bambi is always cheerful, ever devoted, consistently compassionate, forever trustworthy, observant, and attentively focused on the well being of her patients. Every patient in Tillamook knows her and recognizes her compassionate smile. She takes a huge burden of call and I have never heard her complain, even in the middle of the night when she is called on after hours and hours of her normal devoted service in the daytime. She always seems to have that extra energy to give to her patients and support the rest of her team whenever there is a need. This last year, she has served our department as a “digital expert” helping our entire department with the CPOE start-up, sharing her computer skills and knowledge. Her professionalism deserves to be recognized.

I nominate Bambi Poblador for the DAISY Award. I truly feel that she literally fulfills the criteria for the award. She is the example that all nurses in the operating room follow and she has the rare, almost perfect, ratio of competence and caring. I would trust her to care for any member of my family. She is observant and takes the time to fully examine a patient being prepared for surgery. She has noticed, on several occasions, skin lesions on the patient that are suspicious and on one occasion proved to be malignant after biopsy. She is always compassionate and holistic; willing to go the extra mile for a patient and explain what is going on, in a loving way, in a time of high anxiety for the patient. She also picked up and delivered to a patient’s home their prescriptions from the pharmacy.

I am sure several people can attest to the excellence she gave in regards to CPOE implementation and the computer usage in general. She has always had a great attitude about CPOE and has taken the extra effort to be a superuser. She has saved all the physicians many hours of time and great frustration. She has also taken extra time to mentor other nurses and instruct them as well. She is the consummate team player, always willing to do whatever it takes to get the patient cared for in an efficient, caring manner. She is a joy to work with and always cheerful even after working all night. I am striving to follow her example. She is knowledgeable about the science of nursing and medicine and actively involved in acquiring new information and to see new things in the OR. Bambi is most deserving of this award and example for the entire hospital staff to emulate!
