My mother was admitted to Mission and was moved to ICU. She died on the next day. April Parr was amazing to me, my family, and my mother. Many decisions had to be made concerning my mother’s care and how to proceed. I was confused and exhausted and April was a rock. She was kind, level-headed and supportive. She kept me up to date on every aspect of her care. I never saw a physician but felt that my mother was so fortunate to be in the care of April. On the day my mother died, April was with me and my family as we had to make a difficult decision as to whether my mom would stay on life support or not. I hope that she was able to get her paperwork done but do not see how she could have because she was answering our questions and talking to family that was out of town trying to explain the situation to them, at my request. I do not think she ever took her dinner break or ate the food she had gotten. She even stayed past her shift to hold my mother’s hand because I had to leave the room to make calls.

I had never met her before but I felt like she was my sister. Her care and concern helped make us all at ease at the overwhelming circumstance we were under. When she finally did leave, she called back to check on us. She was honest and informative and guided me through the whole process. I can honestly say that I am not sure how I would have held up without her. She has a special gift and talent and we were fortunate to have such a deep soul to guide us through one of the toughest experiences I have ever been through.
