Anna was nominated for comforting a patient during a scary, stroke-like episode.
The patient was admitted after suffering from multiple strokes during a two-week period. She was only 35 years old. While in the hospital, the patient complained of having a headache and was afraid it was due to the onset of another stroke.
"Anna came to give me medicine and she held my hand and reassured me I was OK and that everything would be OK," the patient wrote in a nomination letter. "She held my hand for ten minutes as I sat stressed out and crying. She was so concerned that she called the doctor into my room."
At the end of Anna's shift, the patient was touched to see that Anna had written a note that read:
"Good morning, I had to go, I know that you will heal and your days will be brighter soon. It was amazing caring for you! All my best! I'll see you later - happy and healthy, Anna"
This simple gesture meant so much to the patient.
"Anna was the one and only reason I would stay without a family member all night," the patient wrote. "I trust her with my life!"
