Ann joined the Translational Research Unit over two years ago and came to TRU with over 12 years of pediatric nursing experience. Ann holds herself to very high standards and is consistently using her critical thinking skills to ensure she is optimizing the best and safest care for the patients she serves. She is very aware of her mood and exudes professionalism in her every day interactions. Ann is highly engaged at work and goes above and beyond with the Nursing Professional Development Council and the DAISY sub-committee. She displays great passion for the care she provides each and every one of her patients. Ann is known to consistently go above and beyond whenever she is at work.

A twenty year old patient nominated Ann for the DAISY Award after participating in a research blood draw in the TRU. This patient had decided years ago that he no longer wanted to participate in research as he had a severe phobia of needles. In early 2015, he had a change of heart and reached out to the study coordinator to schedule a TRU visit. During the visit, Ann went above and beyond to ensure this patient would be comfortable while in the TRU. She gave him the extra care and attention he needed to put him at ease despite his phobia of needles. She stayed with him until he was comfortable leaving the unit. Ann took the time from her busy day to ensure that she did whatever she could to make this patients visit to Children's the best that it could be. Ann's actions are truly an inspiration for others.
