I am writing this letter in appreciation of the great care I received by one of your professionals at Mercy Medical Center. This lady, Andrea Witt, is not only a volume of knowledge but also possesses an amazing wit (no pun intended) and put her patients at ease.
Last December, I was really struggling with high blood glucose levels. Working closely with my PCP and an endocrinologist, I just wasn’t achieving the results I was looking for. Getting frustrated and down on myself, I decided to make an appointment with Ms. Witt. After meeting with her for over an hour, we made a new game plan—a carb counting program, several changes in medication, portion control, a computerized blood glucose graph of all my readings, and answers to all my questions regarding diabetes.

The best outcome was walking out of Andrea’s office not feeling like a failure. She reassured me my problems weren’t necessarily due to something I was or was not doing. She explained that diabetes is an ever-changing disease and at times your whole diabetic regiment needs some tweaking. Upon returning home, I called my endocrinologist and told her of my meeting with Andrea and her recommended changes in medication. She applauded my effort to be a team player in my health care and couldn’t say enough good things regarding Ms. Witt. She approved all Andrea’s recommendations and stated, “I’ve worked with Ms. Witt many times before and have always had a good working relationship with her.”

3 months later my A1C is 6.0 and I am still feeling good about myself. I also received a survey questionnaire in the mail from Andrea with specific questions regarding my health and diabetic care. There was even a number to call if I had any questions. In this day and age once you leave a Dr.’s office you are pretty much on your own. Thank you, Ms. Witt for your excellent care, your knowledge, and treating your patients as you would want to be treated.
