I was admitted to L&D. Ana was my admitting nurse. She was very wonderful from the start. She explained everything that was happening and would be happening.

When my contractions became too painful she reminded me I could have an epidural when I was ready, and I was ready. She immediately contacted the CRNA who also was great. Once my epidural was in my pain was under control. But, when there was a break through pain despite the epidural Ana proactively alerted the CRNA. Once the CRNA administered a bolus, I was feeling better again. Then, unexpectedly our baby’s heart rate decelerated. Ana quickly alerted the Dr’s who mentioned the possibility of a C-Section, which would be emergent if the Heart Rate didn’t improve. Ana helped mentally prepare me and my partner for this possibility. As my labor progressed the baby’s heart rate improved but I developed an infection with a high fever. Ana Immediately notified the doctor. Again, the doctor indicated the need for a C-Section versus allowing my labor to continue. Ana stayed over her scheduled shift to continue to be my nurse.

She was great comfort to all of us from start to finish. She truly exemplified what a nurse is. She is knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate, considerate, thinks beyond the patient, and is one of the loveliest people we have ever met. She is extraordinary. Thank you Ana.
