Amy Swanson exemplifies the mission, vision and imperatives of Cerner. Please see the following highlights of Amy's contributions to nursing and nursing informatics and how she is making a difference at CoxHealth.
Amy has exceptional knowledge of nursing processes at CoxHealth. She leverages this knowledge to improve and enhance workflow processes within Millennium PowerChart.Amy has excellent rapport with clinical staff and departments rely upon her expertise. This is evident through her work with various teams throughout the organization. Amy has been an integral team member working with the Ambulatory Model Clinic, OB/GYN Clinics, Branson ED and Urgent Care. Amy's expertise spans both inpatient and outpatient venues which is key as the organization works towards one integrated record. Amy works closely with other informaticists and co-leads the organization's super user group.Amy's attention to detail is exceptional. Her work is accurate and she verifies all aspects of the work are complete. Her co-workers have expressed how much they appreciate Amy's attention to detail and detail of projects that they are working on together. Amy takes the time to look closely at projects to ensure all aspects are covered.Amy displayed accountability and great commitment through the Physician Advancement roll-out. She also demonstrated commitment to Cerner through this project. She took this project on full steam ahead and throughout the implementation was diligent to look for changes that advanced adoption and grew the project to meet the client's needs. There were providers that were resistant to this change but Amy persevered to build relationships that led to quality outcomes. Following the playbooks success on the inpatient side Amy leveraged her experience on the ambulatory side. Initially, there were no plans to implement playbooks as part of the initial ambulatory rollout. After evaluation of what was needed Amy assisted in the necessary build decisions. Amy stepped up and learned how to build so our team was able to accomplish the workflow pages build as part of the Ambulatory Project. Physician Advancement certainly brought out Amy's innovative side. Just as the examples above, the project scope redefined the current state for physicians introducing many new optimized pieces. As Amy worked with each specialty each piece was designed to fit the specialty's workflow. With new build experience, Amy gained energy to take on additional build challenges and was eager to rework situations in order to obtain better results.Amy worked closely to collaborate with Dr. Eccher to implement playbook functionality for the neonatologists including a workflow MPage and a quick orders page. Amy worked through this project with edge as she met with Dr. Eccher each week and they faced the challenges head on. Dr. Eccher relies on Amy for her expertise and they have a great relationship today.Amy worked with the Neonatal Intensive Care nursing staff to develop an electronic version of CoxHealth's neonatal resuscitation record. This complex process was implemented with only minor changes needed post-go live. Neonatal resuscitation is live today and staff are no longer documenting this critical information on paper. This project is a direct result of Amy's determination and drive for constant advancement of the electronic medical record.
Amy Swanson's successes and commitment to Cerner and Nursing Informatics are noteworthy and she is very deserving of the Daisy Award.
