I would like to nominate Amy Stees, RN for a DAISY Award. On April 14 2010, my sister-in-law had an aneurysm that ruptured. From the very beginning we were given the utmost respect by the staff. On May 3, 2010, we discontinued all life saving measures. Amy provided outstanding care following an unexpected illness and death. Amy's care was compassionate and comprehensive.

On behalf of the family, we are so appreciative of the wonderful nursing staff that made the last 19 days a little easier to handle. Never at any time were we made to feel as a burden. All of the medical staff were so understanding of our concern and were letting us know exactly what they were doing and why they were doing it. Let me tell you that at any one time, there were 20 plus people up by Kim in the waiting room, in which we kind of took over. It seems that they genuinely care and are part of our family.

On Saturday night, when things went bad, our nurse was Amy Stees. She is the best nurse a patient and family could ask for. She was there when Kim first arrived in ICU. And Saturday night, she was supposed to be done at 7:30 pm but stayed until 9:30 pm to make sure we understood everything. She even cried along side us and gave as many hugs as needed. Not only is that dedication, it is compassion. Thank you on behalf of the Monahan and O’ Keefe families.
