Amanda came to us as a new grad a little over a year ago. I had the chance to monitor Amanda's progress a few weeks ago, and was very impressed with how much she had grown from a novice, task-oriented RN to an empathetic, caring, experienced RN. I observed Amanda taking care of a patient that was in poor respiratory condition. The patient struggled with the Bi-pap and became restless and anxious. Family were present at all times and were giving attention to their loved one continuously.Although Amanda had a full patient load to take care of, she ensured that she was advocating forthe patient and listening to the family's requests and concerns.Amanda had several contacts with the physician about this particular patient and each time a request was made by the family, Amanda was able to discuss this request with the physician and get it implemented. This diligence in patient and family care was very much appreciated by the family. The family felt heard and felt their concerns for their loved one were addressed fully.Amanda used her critical thinking and assessment skills which helped her formulate her requests with the physician. She demonstrated exemplary service and commitment to excellence.
