When my daughter was born Amanda was my nurse in L&D, a rapid response was called. Long story short, our baby girl ended up in NICU. Amanda stayed past her shift to take me to see my baby in NICU after the birth. She made sure we were okay with her being there and she even asked questions for me that I would not have thought to ask. When she took us to our room, she hugged me and assured me that my baby was in good hands. It did not end there. After staying late, she picked up a shift the next day. While we were walking to NICU, we ran into her in the hallway. She immediately knew who we were, hugged me, and asked how my daughter was doing. She wished us the best. She would not have had to do any of this, but she did. She cared. She didn't just do her job; she went well above and beyond her job and made an effort to form a relationship with me. It's been seven months since my daughter was born (she's doing great!), but I will never forgot about how amazing she was as a person, as a nurse, and as an asset to Lancaster General.
