Alexis (Lexi) is truly passionate about the Mental Health field. She is a true advocate for the patients she cares for which is so important with our patient population because often times they don't have someone to advocate for them. Lexi builds rapport easily with patients and they seek her out. Many patients remember her from previous hospitalizations and this shows that she must have made an impact on them. Lexi communicates well with other disciplines and also with patients. She provides education to patients in terms that they understand. Lexi is flexible and rolls with the punches of the job. Every day is different for nurses, and this never seems to phase Lexi. She handles stressful situations with ease. Many times she is able to address problems before they arise. Lexi is welcoming to new nurses and is always willing to lend a hand. Lexi always has a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She is a joy to work with. Just like any nurse, Lexie was taught many skills in nursing school, however, nursing school does not teach the important personality traits of a nurse such as compassion and empathy. Lexi is truly one of the most empathetic, confident, competent nurses I know.

Lexi is an extraordinary example of what someone receiving care would want from a nurse. She is incredibly patient when working with patients and their families always taking the time to listen to their concerns and needs. In all the years I have worked with her, I have never seen her stop working with a patient or family until they were satisfied that their needs or concerns have been addressed in a manner that was satisfactory to them. She goes out of her way to make sure patients are receiving the care they need and deserve. She supports her co-workers in helping patients and finding solutions to difficult problems. She collaborates with the team incredibly effectively and is a strong leader and role model to those around her. Anyone working with Lexi or receiving care from her knows and understands that they have her full attention when she is working directly with them. Anyone who has ever worked alongside her can easily recognize these traits as well.

Lexi always advocates for the patients she is caring for and seeks long-term solutions to patient care issues that arise on multiple occasions. She strives to create and maintain a safe environment, treats everyone with dignity and respect at all times, listens and exhibits care and empathy, leads with responsibility and integrity, and puts her best into every interaction and situation she works on. Lexi truly goes above and beyond what is expected of her because she is driven by her passion for patient care. She is continuing her education in order to better serve the patients she works with and become a stronger and more informed patient advocate. She actively seeks opportunities to better herself and the care we provide for others. Every family I have seen Lexi work with has been so grateful for the time, attention, and care she has made for them and for the care of their loved one. She receives continuous praise from patients, their loved ones, and her co-workers. Lexi deserves every honor and recognition that the DAISY Award exemplifies for all of the meaningful work she does every day for our patients, their families, and those privileged to work alongside her.
