I have had the pleasure of being cared for not only myself but several of my family. We were all cared for by the 5th floor nursing unit. This unit starts with its nurse manager Christine Curtain. She greets me each morning with a good morning and a smile. There are so many caring nurses on this unit. I apologize for not remembering all their names. The few I can remember are Faye, Elsa ANM, Susan ANM, Sheliza, Merderline, Tanya, Jayne, Livia, Whitney, PCA Lynn, Ginger & Lisa Unit secretaries, and of course Isis. They have an understanding of what it means to tune into the highly variable needs of patients who are vulnerable and suffering. This unit understands the most subtle acts of caring and connection that make the biggest difference to the patient and their families. My hope is that nurses will be inspired by them and appreciate what extraordinary care they give. I witnessed hands-on, that nursing is relentlessly challenging and a chaotic environment. It is through presence and attunement that they conveyed the essential message in nursing. "I see you, I am interested in you". Presence is not what they do but the way they do it. You can't connect to a patient without being present and attuned. They were able to help my family members overcome their fears and worries about what was happening. They remained open and quiet, allowing them to share more, or perhaps asking them to tell them more about what they were most afraid of and then listening. In the nursing profession you must be able to be with people in their distress, and respect, appreciate and learn something from their responses about who they are and what they're going through. They created a haven for healing in which my family felt accepted and held with dignity and respect. They provided the expected most extraordinary and amazing care, it's difficult to explain the depth to which they impacted the wellbeing of my family. I will always be thankful for the respect and high level of competence, knowledge, and aptitude for their role as nurses.
They also demonstrated consistent compassion and humor. Remember "laughter is the best Medicine" I am honored to work with such wonderful nurses and would hope for all of us in this profession to pay attention and learn from them. The traits they demonstrated to me and my family. I applaud their nursing skills. They are fantastic nurses beyond what nursing school has taught them. Their exceptional care should be recognized and remember that nurses' lives touch lives for better or worse in every encounter. They are hardworking nurses who are always willing to help and maintain a positive and motivated disposition that is inspirational. Their job is to improve the quality of a patient's life one moment at a time. They always displayed a genuinely happy, upbeat and positive attitude toward me and my family.

I am a new nurse, but I couldn't have been more fortunate then to be hired to work on the medical-surgical unit on the 5th floor at Broward Health Imperial Point. We define the term "Teamwork". I come in every morning of my shift knowing I am going to care for some very unfortunate, very ill people and sometimes things can be overwhelming because a lot can happen all at once, but the feeling of being overwhelmed dissipates because EVERY single nurse on that floor will help you. You are never alone, and the charge nurses are NEVER just sitting at the desk. They are helping take care of the patients because that's what we are there for, to take care of the patients and restore them to their highest functioning state. I work with angels. We provide more than medical care. We console concerned family members. We hold patient's hands when they're afraid. We feed those who are unable to feed themselves. We clean those who are unable to clean themselves, and we help each other do all these things. As a new nurse, I feel comfortable asking any single one of my colleagues any question and they frequently ask me how my day is going and they all genuinely care. I work with the most loving, caring people and they bring a brightness that shines through someone's darkest moment of when they are not well.

Dear delightful, caring, supportive, and kind staff at Imperial Point. I just had to drop a note to tell all of you how wonderful you are! You made my difficult hospital stay and recovery so much easier, just by being the fine professionals that you all are. I really can't say thank you enough to each of you. You were born to do the work that you do because it is not something that comes naturally to most people. I am forever in your debt.

I had a surgery recently and I wanted to recognize the entire staff who helped me with my recovery. They were all professional and kind. The bell was always answered quickly. The nurses explained everything which was being done and all the meds given to me. Even nutrition was so kind to send me up food even after they were closed since my surgery ended late. The charge nurses came in to check on me as well. Room was beautiful and clean and I was able to sleep as much as I could because of how quiet it was. Thank you, everyone, for making my hospital stay pleasant and my recovery easy. The discharge was quick and the doctor was the best in explaining everything in detail. Wonderful floor and wonderful surgeon.
