I would like to honor the 5 East Department. They recently underwent a huge transition to take on all patients as the unit has increased in capacity. We went from a 24-bed unit to 38 beds. We now take full admissions directly from the ED in an effort to decompress the ER. The whole team has done a wonderful job with the transition. They have all pulled together to succeed. Staff from other units have been floated and our team is great at making them feel at home. The unit takes anywhere from 5-10 admissions per shift with no delay in flow. The teamwork on the unit is good and they communicate well with all units in an effort to increase throughput. It's been an honor to work amongst such a wonderful group of people.
