From the time I arrived to the time I left, every staff member was so nice and helpful. They did their best to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. I had a complicated roommate and they handled her with so much care. I thank each and every last one of them from the bottom of my heart. Thank for making my stay as easy as possible.
3 West consists of the Unit Practice Council (UPC) and is over 3 years and going strong. This shared governance council continually seeks to improve 3W and patient outcomes.
This year alone they have created a Falls Poster, improved their assignment sheets, facilitated getting the pantries better stocked, and concluded that there is no evidence to support giving IVP narcotics from higher vs lower port. They are currently working on Staff Recognition, celebration parties, improving hourly rounding, HCAHPS Flowers and action plan, Lifestyle coaching sessions, Journal Club, Med and/or Policy of the month, NCA stars Board and Lunch Breaks. They have developed a relationship with B'Well sharing the Rest n Restore experience with the entire staff.
The members of the team all work together on the unit. They meet monthly to discuss any updates in hospital policies, and new ideas to implement on the unit and work with other interdisciplinary teams of the hospital to improve the overall workflow. As a manager, I am thankful to be part of such as great team. If there are any ideas to improve the unit, I can always get input from the UPC. Some of the ideas discussed in the UPC meeting are hourly rounds "the bed is not your friend" poster and "All hands on deck". All of which helped staff better take care of our patients. In addition, the UPC has focused on improving the satisfaction of the 3 West staff. We have the NCA Star of the month to recognize our hard-working NCAs. They have helped improve communication among staff. Most importantly, the extra time and effort spent by the staff members to help improve the unit are what is appreciated the most.
I can't thank you enough for the many kindnesses you showed during my 18-day stay. Your smiles, kindness, and courtesies went a long way in making an unexpected, long hospital stay easier for both me and my family. Everyone from the Nursing Staff, Nursing Assistants, IV team, Lab Techs, Student Nurses, Housekeeping, etc. were always there ready to help and with a smile to put me at ease.
