Delaney made this unexpected process so much easier on my nerves with such compassion and kindness.
Delaney was my overnight labor and delivery nurse two nights in a row. This is my first pregnancy and my first experience giving birth so to say I was nervous is an understatement. I am also a nurse, so we instantly clicked with that. I had a very difficult, painful and long labor process including a cook catheter, trouble with my epidural, developing a low grade temp, and finding out that baby was OP. Delaney did everything in her power to calm me and reassure me of my baby’s health. Delaney personally did everything she could to help get baby spun into position and took the time and effort to do this and to make sure I was mentally okay at all times. I ultimately needed a C-section and Delaney made this unexpected process so much easier on my nerves with such compassion and kindness. I felt like one of those horrible nurse patients in my mind but she never made me feel that way. She made me feel safe, comforted and well taken care of. Delaney was in the OR with me and was excited she got to see the little baby after everything we had been through together.

I want to thank her in the most public way because she deserves to know that she is an amazing and compassionate nurse and that without her I wouldn’t have been able to do any of the things that happened with such reassurance and “less” nervousness. My baby was delivered at 6:16am and I did not get out of the OR until after 7am, which is beyond her shift. She stayed with me the whole time and came in before she left to say goodbye and end our time together with a hug and a wish of good luck. Delaney will forever help remind me that this traumatic experience (to me) also had growing and loving moments as well with the help of a nurse who helped me stay grounded and as worry-free as I could be.
