Mia Howard, RN

Women's Care,

Saint Joseph Health System: Saint Joseph East

Lexington, Kentucky

My daughter had extreme pain issues after a c-section, she was also putting the baby up for adoption. No one had been able to formulate a plan or combination of intervention to get her pain under control. When my daughter was transferred to post partum Mia immediately put together some ideas that the doctor agreed with. The plan was implemented and was successful. Mia was very patient, compassionate and caring. I believe she treated us the way she would want to be treated herself. I would let Mia take care of me or any member of my family. She also communicated the plan very well to the other shifts which provided continuity of care that was so important for us. Additionally she addressed the emotional component of the adoption with a soft , very caring and compassionate style, Mia deserves a DAISY Award because she is an exceptional nurse and we are very happy we got to have her.

Nominated by Laureen Kelley & Nancy Bakul
