DAISY Nurse Spotlights

Angela Bartels, RN

Madison Clinic

Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, Washington

Angie has cared for patients with HIV most of her nursing career. She has seen the disease and the treatment for it change dramatically. Angie is actively involved in the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) and keeps extremely up-to-date on the most current regimens and recommendations. She serves as a resource for her peers and support for our patients. Angie also contributes in other very important ways. Angie speaks fluent Spanish and is involved in the Latino / Latina community with her work as a Diabetic Educator at The 45th Street Clinic. She brings that knowledge to 2WC and educates her peers and patients. She has been instrumental in developing our Madison Metabolic Clinic and provided the nursing support to our Madison Obstetrics clinic with Dr. Jane. Lastly, Angie is a model for compassionate care. She applies her knowledge with a degree of understanding and professionalism that extends equally to all of our patients at Harborview. That ability exemplifies what I believe The DAISY Award is all about.
