DAISY Nurse Spotlights

Alexandra Palma, RN

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Allie is truly an extraordinary, compassionate and caring nurse. Allie took care of an extremely sick child on a consistent basis. She not only took excellent care of the child but the family as well, always keeping them updated and answering questions.

After a long stay in the PICU and many ups and downs the patient wasn't getting better. Allie spent an entire day talking and comforting the family. Later that day the family came to the decision to withdraw care. Allie's shift was over at 7PM but she felt that for this to be easier on the family it would be nice to have someone they knew to help them through this difficult time. Allie stayed that night to be the bedside nurse and support the family. The parents could not express enough how much they appreciated Allie and the entire team for all their hard work and dedication.

This is just one of the many examples of how compassionate and care a nurse Allie is. When you see her in the hallways she is always smiling and is willing to jump right in to any situation and lend a hand. When she takes care of her patients and families she goes above and beyond.
